TIPS & IDEAS
BEFORE THE NIGHT
Get it out early: Distribute the box a couple of weeks ahead of time so everyone has a chance to get familiar with the resource before the big night.
Team up: Pair up with another household or group—maybe your small group or some keen friends—and run it together!
Choose the best location: If your home isn’t easily accessible or doesn’t get much foot traffic, consider teaming up with someone whose house does.
Map it out: Create a map in your church foyer showing the households running the Bottle Flip activity. This helps others know where it's happening and encourages prayer for each location.
Set up at church: If your church building is on a street that gets trick-or-treaters, consider setting up a marquee there and running the game from church.
Make yourself known: Each box includes a lightning bolt balloon you can hang on your door or letterbox to signal that you're open for fun! You could also add balloons at the end of your driveway or post your address on your community Facebook page so families can plan their route.
Why the cost?: The box price simply covers print and admin costs—it’s not a fundraiser.
Include it in your Light Party: The game makes a great station at a Light Party! We ran it at ours and gave out stickers in our party packs.
Practice run: Have a quick trial run with a few others so you’re ready on the night. Make sure you have a flat surface to play on, an empty plastic bottle, and some lollies!
Be generous: Grab some quality treats—pre-wrapped lollies like Fruit Bursts work best.
Set your open/close times: Trick-or-treating usually starts around 4 PM and can go until 9 PM. Decorations or signage can show when you're open. If you run out of treats, just take your sign or balloon down—no worries! Whether you’re open for one hour or the whole night is totally up to you.
Prepare for all weather: Rain or shine, kids are committed—so have a wet-weather plan ready.
Get innovative: Feel free to get creative and tweak the event to suit your space, style, and community.
AFTER THE NIGHT
Celebrate the wins: Think about what success looked like for you and take time to reflect and celebrate!
Share your stories: Snap some photos if you can, tell your church community how it went, and send your stories to us—we’d love to hear them!
Leftover boxes or stickers?: Hang onto them for next year! The game can also be used anytime during the year in small groups, Sunday school, or larger gatherings.
Think long-term: We hope this becomes an annual tradition! If things didn’t go perfectly this time, don’t stress—there’s always next year.
